Red Lions are proudly and loudly roaring as the only unbeaten team in the 2013 TNM Super League following their Sunday’s 1-0 ‘mauling’ of Silver Strikers in Zomba.

Kumbukani Mwambeni netted the sole strike as the Lions cemented their third spot on 18 points, two behind leaders Blue Eagles who lost 3-0 to second-placed Kamuzu Barracks on Saturday.

KB have 19 points from 10 games. The Eagles have also played 10. For the Bankers, it was a trip to forget as they also lost 0-1 to Evirom on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium.

The win moved Evirom off the foot of the 16-member table on five points from eight games. It meant Mponela dropped to the bottom following 1-3 defeat by Epac FC on Sunday when Ishmael Thindwa, Dalitso Mwase and Musa Manyenje each struck for Epac.

Before the weekend, three teams were unbeaten, including Azam Tigers who finally were breached by Bashir Maunde’s own goal at Balaka Stadium, gifting Mighty Wanderers a 1-0 win and end their recent struggles.

The losses have Silver slipping on the ladder by a position to 10th on nine points, Tigers remain sixth with 14 points from nine games whereas the Nomads are eighth on 14 points amassed from eight matches.

Evirom, Mponela and Moyale Barracks have registered five losses in this campaign, Tigers have drawn more, six, with Eagles deservingly leading on most six wins.

In other results, Civo United revival continued as they made it three straight wins in beating Mafco 2-0 on Saturday. Civo climbed to eighth on 11 points.
